🍎🏀 LDZ Diabetes Awareness Month 🏀🍎 Today our LDZ students took part in a Go-Food Fitness Game in P.E for Diabetes Awareness Month, combining basketball dribbling with nutrition learning. Students identified: 💚 Go Foods – easy for the body to break down 💛 Slow Foods – break down at a moderate pace ❤️ Whoa Foods – harder for the body to break down On the back of the cards, students matched these to exercise levels: 🔥 Whoa = Hard exercises 💛 Slow = Intermediate exercises 💚 Go = Easy exercises Our Coyotes showed great understanding of how healthy food choices and activity work together! #LDZ #CoyoteStrong #DiabetesAwareness #GoSlowWhoa #HealthyChoices

This past weekend, students Jaqueline Garcia (7th), Jaylannie Garza (7th), and Damian Peña (8th) proudly represented Lorenzo de Zavala Middle School at the 3rd Annual La Joya ISD Cultura Chalk Art Experience. Guided by their art teacher, Ms. Barrera, the talented group of students spent nearly five hours bringing their creative vision to life. Working collaboratively, they designed and executed a vibrant chalk masterpiece that beautifully showcased their teamwork and artistic skill.

A big shoutout to the 7th grade Zavala Girls Basketball Dark Team for their impressive win against Chavez! You showed outstanding teamwork, focus, and determination on the court. The Light Team also played a great, hard-fought game and came up just short. Your effort, hustle, and spirit make us proud! A huge thank-you to all the parents and staff for your amazing support. Your encouragement makes all the difference. Go Zavala! 💙💪

Congratulations to the 8th Grade Dark Team on their impressive victory over Chavez Middle School, improving their record to 3-0 and continuing a great start to the season. The girls played with energy, teamwork, and determination exactly what Lady Coyotes basketball is all about! The Light Team battled hard all game but came up short. Their effort, hustle, and dedication in practice continue to show, and we know their time is coming. A word from Coach Hernandez: Thank you to all the parents for your constant support.
